The Color Red
Christmas time is a time for the color red.
Christmas time is a time for the color red.
Holly berries intermingled with shiny thorn-edged leaves drape across the dining room mirror. The cranberry-colored linen on the round table accentuates the vase of, yes, even more holly on erect stems with plump round pods of deep scarlet.
There are burgundy plaid pillows on the slipcovered cream sofa and a fuzzy cable knit wine throw laid loosely in the corner that beckons for me to sit with a cup of tea and a good book.
I have never cared for the color red. It always made me feel uneasy — such a loud, harsh, angry color.
But as I sit here in a room glowing with the color red on Christmas eve, I feel its warmth and a deep sense of comfort.
Even colors can surprise us. Just like people, if given a chance.
