If you missed tip #3 then click here. I talked about how you can totally transform one meal in a new meal or even a couple of meals. Don’t throw those leftovers away. Transform them!

Now, let’s talk about saving money by eating at home instead of going out.

Why do we eat out?

There are several reasons we decide to jump in the car and go to a restaurant or, unfortunately, fast food on occasion.

Reasons For Eating Out

  • It provides a break from cooking and cleaning.
  • We don’t have time to make a meal because we didn’t plan, or something popped up unexpectedly.
  • We enjoy the experience. (A candle-lit table, a fun cultural flair, food we might not normally eat at home, being waited on, the atmosphere, etc.)

I love going out for dinner, but unfortunately, it is becoming more and more expensive. The gas prices alone just to get to the restaurant are enough to keep me home.

What if we could recreate the experience of eating out right at home?

What if we could provide a solution to all the reasons we leave our humble abode and pay out the wazoo for food that is not as healthy, possibly contaminated, wait in line, and hope to God we get a booth?

What if we could make eating at home fun?

And…. save us lots of money.

Just for what my husband and I pay for a night at the local Mexican restaurant, I can buy groceries to feed us 3 or 4 meals.

So, let’s get started. This is where it gets fun!

Charcuterie Platter

This is wonderful any time of the year. The hardest part of this meal is cutting up cheese. It is one of the simplest meals ever.

On a platter, place a variety of cheeses, cured meats, fruits, nuts, crackers, crusty bread, jams, etc. Look and see what you already have in the fridge.

You can make it as elaborate or as simple as you want. I highly recommend a good quality wine from…
